HI I'M JAMES ALEXANDER MURPHY AND THIS IS ME:
Growing up James was a trouble making ADHD child, he had a temper and he let it fly.From the time he was three years old his parents knew he would be a handful. He is the only son of a retired auror father and a soon to retire muggle Detective for a mother. His teenage rebellions were similar to most students except that lucky for him and his parents he spent the majority of the school year away from home living at Hogwarts.
Jamie started drinking at a young age, thirteen. Sneaking drinks from his parents cupboards or finding ways to get invited to the big parties around the school. That quickly turned into alcoholism by the age fifteen. The drinking lead to drugs and those drugs ruined his life. He was an addict, he took pills he smoked just about anything you are capable of smoking, and this teenage rebellion lasted well into his twenties. His parents had more or less given up on him, they knew he was a junkie. His anger problems had gone through the roof but his emotions were haywire with all the drugs he was on.
One day when he was twenty two he got an owl to his house, his parents had been killed. James had been supposed to come over for dinner the night it happened, he was supposed to be dead like them but he had skipped out to get high. He thought for a moment the drugs had saved him, but at the same time guilt tugged at his heart knowing that there might have been something he could do to prevent the murders from being committed.
Nothing was going to get this man to clean up his act, he had barely finished school and since then had skated through life. In the past years since his parents murders he has almost spent up all the money he inherited after their deaths. All of it a waste one way or another. Fate has a funny way of turning on you, his girlfriend from his school days had come back into his life, she got him off the hard drugs, down to a few pills a day, a lot of booze and a pack or two of cigarettes. That was an improvement, the only reason for it because she wouldn't date someone worse into drugs than she was.
After the two had been together for about six months, she found out she was pregnant. Jamie was going to be a father. You would think that would be enough for the twenty six year old to clean up his act, right? Well it wasn't even then, not until his son Kenneth Tyson Murphy was over a year old before he got off all the drugs, quit drinking the alcohol everything. His reason for that? To not continue to be the screw up he had let himself be, and to do something right for his parents who he hoped would have bee proud to see the changes he had made.
Now at the age of thirty one, Jamie is enjoying his second year teaching care of magical creatures at Hogwarts. It had been his best subject in school and during his years of alcohol and drug abuse he spent most of it homeless wandering the outdoors and coming across the many creatures he would be teaching his students about. He knew all about them not from reading about them in text books but from living in and around their same habitats. It took quite the convincing but eventually the Headmaster had given him the second chance he needed.
His son is now five years old, and during the school days he has his trusted grandfather watching Kenneth Tyson because when he was getting cleaned up, she had their son taken from her because of the drugs. The rest of the time Jamie does his best to take care of his son himself.
The only vice that has stuck with him through all these years are his nicotine addiction as he still smokes cigarettes like a child drinks soda's and his temper and attention span has not gotten much better. He has good control on his temper most days, but the ADHD was never out grown, if anything it probably got a little worse because of his years of substance abuse, but it's nothing that seems to get in the way too bad.
