in the harry potter world, the below would be a specific description of how classes would work. in our rp society, each character will be required to take three classes a year according to what they're able to take. we will follow the same guidelines for third, fourth, and fifth years in the aspect of these years are allowed to drop an elective. i will post the hogwarts way of doing things, then explain our differences.


CASE IN POINT: all characters take the necessary courses according to the list below. characters will be registered on the hogwarts roster in all respective classes. all characters have to register in at least three class rosters individually posted by the professor, and post at least once in the class threads.

First Year

Charms
Defense Against the Dark Arts
Herbology
History of Magic
Potions
Transfiguration

Second Year[/u]
Same classes as first year.

* During the Spring of Second Year, students choose two or more topics to add to their Third Year courses.

Third Year[/u]
Same classes as first and second year, PLUS two from the following list:
Ancient Runes
Arithmancy
Care of Magical Creatures
Divination
Muggle Studies

Fourth Year[/u]
Same classes as first and second year, PLUS two electives from the above list. May drop any elective class, but must have at least one.

Fifth Year[/u]
Same classes as fourth year. May drop 1 or more electives, but must continue with core classes from first year.

Sixth Year[/u]
Students are granted permission to classes based on O.W.L. scores. Until the site goes through a year and students actually take these exams, sixth year students may pick any four courses to take, regardless of core or elective status.

Seventh Year[/u]
Same as sixth year, though courses generally reflect chosen field of career.


Okay, so for the site each character is required to participate in at least three courses. Your character only has to post once the entire year in each class. HOWEVER, your character MUST pass the O.W.L.'s and N.E.W.T.'s. These will be made up with the Head Admin and the Professor. If a student does not pass these examinations, he or she will be unable to take a designated course the next year. (i.e. potions, dada, etc.) Although your character may not be posting in other courses, because of the 3 course requirement, your character is still technically in those classes, so make sure to post in the Overall Hogwarts Class Rosters thread. This way, if we lose a Professor/don't have one when you sign up, your character is accounted for.
